By destroying each bunker the player is able to progress closer towards the enemy headquarters.
Protected by mortar firing bunkers, these also act as the Player Respawn point. Ranging from a Pioneer/Engineer to Paratroopers/Recon, the goal of the game is to destroy the enemy's base, which requires the player to fight through three separate lines of defenses. They choose 7 "Heroes" each different in their Offensive, Defensive, and Support abilities.
Assault: Very similar to the popular online Warcraft 3 mod Defense of the Ancients, with 3 members per team. The expansion pack introduces three new multiplayer game modes: Falaise Pocket - Features a unit of SS Panzer Grenadiers and Wehrmacht stationed in the town of Trun, that they must defend against an Allied assault while other German forces try to escape through the area. Causeway - Follows a company of paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division as they try to secure the La Fiere causeway for other Allied forces to pass through out of the Normandy beaches. Hauptmann and Oberst are in the 101st Tigergruppe and they fight the British 7th Armored Division entering the town. Tiger Ace - Set in Villers-Bocage, the episode is a backstory of Kampfgruppe Lehr commander Major-General Maximillian Voss and Hauptmann Josef Schultz who is the main antagonist in the original. Overall Tales of Valor is a solid expansion but it likely will not attract any more fans to the series.Company of Heroes: Tales Of Valor has three single-player episodes. Finally, the multiplayer features operations which are smaller, more casual game modes. Each of the units features different abilities from its original unit. Initially some of these units were overpowered but with patches they have become more balanced. Each unit is meant to be a side-grade for each replacement unit. The multiplayer units offer a different side to all of the factions. Unit abilities are crucial to win close engagements. 
Once again the key to success is map control and positioning. The game has a nice challenge across its campaigns even with the hero units. The Tiger Ace campaign allows the player to upgrade the Tiger with additional firepower, speed, or armor.
The campaigns focus on hero units and upgrades instead of the grander scale of the previous games. The campaigs are different from Company of Heroes and its expansion, Opposing Fronts. The American campaign features paratroopers assaulting a causeway. The German campaigns feature a Tiger ace and the Falaise Pocket. The 3 mini-campaigns features 2 German campaigns with 1 US campaign. It features 3 separate mini-campaigns, reward side-units for multiplayer, and separate game types for multiplayer.
